Accessibility status

This website partly fulfils the requirements of the Finnish Act on the provision of digital services 306/2019. Please see below for a list of non-conformities and exceptions applicable to the criteria.

The website is constantly updated, and at the same time, work will continue in order to improve the accessibility of the website and fix the problems with it.

Non-accessible content

The content discussed below is non-accessible for the specified reasons: Non-compliance with the Act on the provision of digital services 306/2019. The following content and/or functionalities do not yet meet the requirements:

Structure

  • The product comparison table is not accessible for screen reader users as the content is not programmatically presented in table format and the icons in the data cells don’t have text alternatives (1.1.1, 1.3.1, 4.1.2).

  • Headings are not always marked correctly. Heading levels are skipped, some headings are not marked as headings, and some content is marked as headings when shouldn’t (1.3.1).

  • Some headings are not perfectly describing the content (2.4.6).

  • There is some content that should be marked as list (1.3.1).

  • There are tabs, breadcrumb trails and accordion elements that are missing needed semantics to be fully understandable for screen reader users. (1.3.1).

  • There are some links that are not descriptive alone (i.e. buy now, free trial, show more) (2.4.4).

  • The language of the text that differs from the page language, is not marked with correct language. For example, in the language selection menu or product names (3.1.2).

  • The Country selector component changes depending on the user’s location on the site. There is inconsistency also in how the component changes (3.2.3).

Keyboard and screen reader navigation

  • The carousel content arrows are not operable by keyboard (2.1.1).

  • The keyboard focus gets trapped in the search element after a search term has been entered (2.1.2).

  • On smaller screens the whole navigation is read for the user even if it is not opening the navigation menu toggle. Also, there is no possibility to skip the navigation (1.3.2, 2.4.3).

  • The visual order of the elements in the footer doesn’t match with the reading order (1.3.2, 2.4.3).

  • On the home page the reading order of the articles is not intuitive (1.3.2, 2.4.3).

  • In the carousel elements the screen reader focus is not taken to the new content after navigating to the next carousel item. It’s difficult to notice new content appearing (1.3.2).

  • In the dialogues in general the focus is not set in the first interactive element, and the focus is not kept inside of the dialogue (2.4.3).

  • Support topic search results: Previews of knowledgebase articles have sometimes screenshot images that are links and receive a keyboard focus (2.1.1). Also the focus gets obscured in the image links inside the search result preview (2.4.11).

  • Support topic search: Some visually hidden content is read with the screen reader before the search field (1.3.2).

Visual

  • In general text alternatives exist but could be more descriptive. Some images with alternative text are rather decorative and should be hidden. There are some logos that are hidden from screen reader users but should instead have an alternative text. Some alternative texts have not been translated to different language versions (1.1.1).

  • There is text presented as an image in some screenshots and different logos. Some of these should have at least alternative text to provide the same information (1.1.1).

  • When the window is resized to 320px width the customer reviews require horizontal scrolling, and the product comparison table is impossible to read as some content is cut out (1.4.10).

  • When resizing text to 200%, the Menu items in the main navigation bar overlap. There is also a slight cutting in the product cards which however doesn’t impact greatly on understandability (1.4.4).

  • There is auto playing video content on Total product page that lasts over 5 seconds. There is no way to pause, stop or hide the video (2.2.2).

  • There is mostly enough color contrast, but some grey texts on white background and some white text on light color background don’t have enough contrasts (1.4.3).

UI components

  • There are some UI components that don’t have enough contrast (1.4.11).

    • Menu buttons on light background and footer links don’t have enough contrast on hover/pressed state.

    • The selected items on the menu are not distinguishable from the non-selected items.

    • The focused link color has too low contrast against the background

    • Some input fields are not identifiable

    • Close buttons in dialogues don’t have enough contrast.

  • Only placeholder text is used for newsletter subscription input as a label (1.3.1, 3.3.2).

  • On the newsroom page the search has a label element, but it doesn’t contain any label text. Also, it’s not connected to the input (1.3.1, 3.3.2).

  • Many interactive elements with image content are missing an accessible name (4.1.2).

  • Several UI components are missing an accessible name; thus, the visible label is not part of the accessible name either. In Finnish (or other non-English language versions) the name of the Search component is defined by aria-label as “search field” in all language versions. This doesn’t match the visible label of the search field (2.5.3).

  • Some elements are missing a role (4.1.2).

  • The current page/selection is marked only visually, not programmatically (4.1.2).

  • The autocomplete attribute is missing from inputs collecting user data (1.3.5).

  • Error messages are not always correctly marked (3.3.1, 3.3.3).

    • Error field not marked with aria-invalid="true".

    • Error messages are not connected to the field.

    • No suggestions for correction for all input fields.

    • Contact form missing instructions on what * means.

Chat

  • Color contrast is not yet enough for non-text UI components (1.4.11).

help.f-secure.com

  • Several elements are not accessible with keyboard (i.e. Language menu and search) (2.1.1).

  • The focus is not taken to the language dialogue and not kept inside of it (2.4.3).

  • Some elements don’t have accessible names (4.1.2).

  • Tree navigation items inside the accordion elements get focused even when the accordion is not opened (1.3.2, 2.4.3).

  • Text links in the breadcrumb trail don’t have enough color contrast in the resting state. Inline link texts (light blue) don’t have enough color contrast against the background (1.4.3).

  • The Home link button in the breadcrumb trail doesn’t have enough contrast against the background in the resting state (1.4.11).

  • The selected platform is not marked selected programmatically (4.1.2).

  • All non-text elements are missing alternative texts (1.1.1).

  • Qualtrics survey: The content requires horizontal scrolling on small screen width (1.4.10).

  • Qualtrics survey: The iframe doesn’t have a title attribute (2.4.1).

kb.f-secure.com

  • There are non-descriptive headings, and some headings have not been marked as headings (2.4.6, 1.3.1).

  • The main navigation items are skipped in the reading order with screen reader. Can be reached when reversing. The “[Date] Knowledge” text is skipped with the screen reader (1.3.2).

  • Search result preview: The focus is not taken first to the first interactive element (close button). The focus is not returned back to the first element after the last element (2.4.3).

  • The links “F-Secure articles” and “F-Secure Blog” are too close to each other. The target size is too small (2.5.8).

  • The text content gets truncated when the screen width is reduced, screen content zoomed in or the text size increased (1.4.4, 1.4.10).

  • The page titles are not informative (2.4.2).

  • In the language menu the selected language is not marked as selected programmatically (4.1.2).
