Valcard is a mass-mailing worm. It is written in Visual Basic and is packed with UPX file compressor. The worm disguises itself as Macromedia Flash player, it is supposed to play a sound file and show a cute image (this functionality sometimes fails due to a bug in worm's code).

Technical Details

The worm spreads itself in email with different subjects and bodies and an attachment named 'ValentineCard.exe'. The worm collects email addresses from Outlook Address Book and sends itself to all these addresses.

Valcard worm installs itself to system as 'ValentineCard.exe' and modifies Windows Registry to be run in all Windows sessions. On Thursdays the worm is supposed to extract and show a strange JPG image, but this fails due to a bug as the worm extracts sound file data into a picture file.
