Trojan-Spy:W32/Banker.ICS

Banker.ICS is a trojan-spy that targets banks. It modifies or compromises the original bank's website by injecting additional HTML code.Other capabilities of this malware are keylogging and monitoring the user's Web history. It implements a technique to keylog some banking websites to track whether the user is using a virtual keypad.This malware communicates on the domain directory777.com. On this site, it probably contains an automated code to constantly communicate with the infected system.Each of the infected systems is created with a unique entry in this domain. The logs are also being sent to this domain in the folder "Logs".The main component is the binary executable that may arrive on the system via a drive-by-download or via social engineering tactics.When the main executable file is executed, it drops these two files in the Windows system folder:

• contrld.dll
• msft.txt

Contrld.dll is installed as a Browser Helper Object, where most of the malicious routines are located. Msft.txt is an encrypted XML configuration file that contains the configuration and HTML code to inject into the targeted site.The following registry entries are created upon installation of the Browser Helper Object DLL component:

• HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{59D94AAD-0A67-417e-969B-8311296E8364}\InprocServer32 ThreadingModel = "Apartment"
• HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{59D94AAD-0A67-417e-969B-8311296E8364}\ProgID Default = "RITLAB.1"
• HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{59D94AAD-0A67-417e-969B-8311296E8364}\TypeLib Default = "{51BF403F-CB10-4651-97E0-7EAF12BD2011}"
• HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{59D94AAD-0A67-417e-969B-8311296E8364}

It may also create the following registry entry as part of its installation:

Once the files are installed, the main executable will delete itself and only the remaining file on the infected system is the Browser Helper Object component.Other files may be created by this malware in the windows system folder depending on the configuration:
