Summary
A generic detection has identified a webpage with elements or components that have features or behaviors similar to known harmful programs (such as iframes with harmful content, redirector scripts or trojan-droppers).
Security programs use generic detections that look for broad patterns of code or behavior to identify similar programs or files. If you suspect the file was incorrectly detected, go to: Removal: Suspect a file is incorrectly detected (a False Positive)?.
Removal
The F-Secure security product will automatically remove the file.
A False Positive is when a file is incorrectly detected as harmful, usually because its code or behavior resembles known harmful programs. A False Positive will usually be fixed in a subsequent database update without any action needed on your part. If you wish, you may also:
Check for the latest database updates
First, check if your F-Secure security program is using the latest updates, then try scanning the file again.
Submit a sample
After checking, if you still believe the file is incorrectly detected, you can submit a sample of it for re-analysis.
Note: If the file was moved to quarantine, you need to collect the file from quarantine before you can submit it.
Exclude a file from further scanning
If you are certain that the file is safe and want to continue using it, you can exclude it from further scanning by the F-Secure security product.
Note: You need administrative rights to change the settings.
Technical Details
A webpage written in the popular Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) can contain helpful elements or components that make the page look more attractive or provide more features. These elements can include images, videos, scripts, iframes and so on.
On the other hand, a harmful website element may have been deliberately crafted to contain harmful content, or have been compromised by attackers who injected harmful content into it. In either case, when a website visitor views the page, they are exposed to the harmful content.
This detection indicates that the harmful content found on the page shows features or behaviors similar to known harmful programs, such as:
- JavaScript code that redirects the browser, displays unsolicited content, or downloads other files. See Trojan:JS/Iframe for a representative example
- A script that redirects the website visitor to a harmful website. See Trojan:JS/Redirector for a representative example
- Trojan-droppers, which can download or install other (usually harmful) files or components on the website visitor's computer or device
