Summary
DNS Unlocker is a utility program that also displays unsolicited advertising content during web browsing.
Removal

- Uninstall the programLog in to the user account
- Go to Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features
- In the list of installed programs, select 'DNS Unlocker' and then click Uninstall
- Go to Start > Control Panel .
- Under 'Programs', click Uninstall a program
- In the list of installed programs, select 'DNS Unlocker' and then click Uninstall
- Return to Control Panel and under 'Network and Programs', click View network status and tasks.
- In the 'Network and Sharing Center' page, under 'View your active networks', click Local Area Connection.
- In the 'Local Area Connection Status' menu, click Properties.
- Under 'This connection uses the following items', click Internet Protocol Version 4, then click Properties.
- On the 'General' tab, select 'Obtain DNS server address automatically' and click Advanced...
- On the 'DNS' tab, under 'DNS server addresses, in order of use', select each of the DNS addresses listed and click Remove to remove them
- Click OK to save all the changes.
- Flush the local DNS cacheFlush the computer's DNS cache to remove any changes the program made to saved website information before it was uninstalled. Flushing will clear all the saved details, so that the computer can check and re-save a website's details the next time it tries to load the site during a web browsing session.
- Open the Start menu
- In the Search programs and files search box, type in cmd and press Enter
- In the command prompt box, type in ipconfig /flushdns and press Enter
- Clear the browser DNS cacheYou may also elect to clear the browser's DNS cache to remove any changes the program made before it was uninstalled. Clearing will reset your browser's DNS cache to its default settings.
- Mozilla Firefox: In the browser, navigate to chrome://net-internals/#dns and click the "Clear host cache" button. You can also clear your browsing history cache (Mozilla support: How to clear the Firefox cache )
- Google Chrome: In the browser, navigate to chrome://net-internals/#dns and click the "Clear host cache" button. You can also clear your browsing history cache (Chrome Help: Delete your cache, history, and other browser data)
If you are aware of the risks involved in using the file and consent to its use, you may change the settings of your F-Secure security product to allow the file to run. You may also change the settings to exclude it from scanning.
A False Positive is when a file is incorrectly detected as harmful, usually because its code or behavior resembles known harmful programs. A False Positive will usually be fixed in a subsequent database update without any action needed on your part. If you wish, you may also:
- Check for the latest database updatesFirst, check if your F-Secure security program is using the latest updates, then try scanning the file again.
- Submit a sampleAfter checking, if you still believe the file is incorrectly detected, you can submit a sample of it for re-analysis.Note: If the file was moved to quarantine, you need to collect the file from quarantine before you can submit it.
- Exclude a file from further scanningIf you are certain that the file is safe and want to continue using it, you can exclude it from further scanning by the F-Secure security product.Note: You need administrative rights to change the settings.
