Spray-and-pray

Overview

The scammer approaches many victims at once such as through bulk email or SMS or voicemail. The messages are "sprayed" out to a variety of victims and the scammer "prays" one will respond.

This is an indiscriminate targeting context, which means the costs are low for the scammers. However, only certain scams will succeed using this technique.
