Overview
The scammer impersonates a business or non-profit. This is by far the largest category of impersonations, and occurs across a variety of scam types.
Whether this impersonation is effective or not often boils down to a few key factors: can the scammer accurately duplicate the appearance (in visuals, voice, and so on) of the legitimate entity, and does the victim have an existing relationship with this entity (or does the victim want to create one)?
