Overview
The scammer asks the victim to make a small commitment at first, but these escalate over time. Sometimes called the "foot in the door" technique.
Sometimes this request is designed to build confidence in the victim, such as with the Boost Of Trust technique. If so, this approach can also be tied to Sunk Cost Fallacy.
This approach can also be a strategy for improving the likelihood of the scam mechanics working properly. For example, in a 1.3.2 Cryptocurrency Liquidity Pool Scam, the scammer may need time to drain the liquidity pool.
