Application.JS.Redirector identifies JavaScript files (usually hosted on a web page) that will open a new tab in the web browser leading to an unsolicited web page.


Automatic action

Based on the settings of your F-Secure security product, it may allow the file to run, block it from running, move it to the quarantine where it cannot spread or cause harm, or ask you to select an action.

Allow a blocked file to run or exclude a file from scanning

If you are aware of the risks involved in using the file and consent to its use, you may change the settings of your F-Secure security product to allow the file to run. You may also change the settings to exclude it from scanning.

Note You need administrative rights to change the settings.

Technical Details

The specific web page opened by the redirecting JavaScript file is determined by a URL embedded in the script itself.

Once the unsolicited page is opened, it may check for cookies on the user's machine to verify if this is the first time the page has been accessed.

The page may also offer ads, browser extensions, or other potentially unwanted applications (PUA).
