The CISOs' new dawn

Chapter 4: Cyber triggers influence change

We set out to document the collective experiences of CISOs across the US and Europe as they rose to the challenges of 2020. Chapter 4 looks at whether organizations shape – or are shaped by – cyber security decisions, as well as at how CISOs choose to spend their budget and recruit their teams.

An independent research study by Omnisperience on behalf of F‑Secure Countercept.

Is cyber security now influencing organizations’ directions and decisions? Are in-house security teams able or equipped to stand alone against sophisticated adversaries?

The CISOs interviewed for this study had a lot to say about whether cyber security should be a change agent for organizations. But they also had strong opinions on how cloud operations changed priorities across the board, and how implementing ‘security by design’ has created competitive advantage.

This chapter also looks at perennial issues of spending, third party suppliers and, last but by no means least, recruitment and training.
