About Trojan-Notifiers
The Type designation 'Trojan-Clicker' was previously used by F-Secure to identify a trojan that gives a notification of some event. In this context, the event is usually malicious - for example, the trojan may information a backdoor's controller that the malicious program has been successfully installed on a computer with specific IP address on a specific port. Notifiers can send e-mails, instant messages or contact certain websites in order to post the notification information.
Nowadays, notification functionality is built-in to most present day malware. As such, our naming convention has been updated; new programs that would previously have been identified as 'Trojan-Clickers' are now designated 'Trojans'.
