Detailed Description
|
IBIS Toolbar sends back navigation history to IBIS servers to receive ranking for the viewed site. When using the toolbar to search, IBIS has their own search engine selected by default, but the search query is sent to IBIS servers even when the user selects a third party search engine. By clicking the results displayed by the IBIS search engine, the user is first directed to IBIS servers, then to the search provider's website (Overture), and finally to the destination page. Such functionality is solely to track the user's usage of the search results.
IBIS Toolbar is mainly distributed as a bundled application with free software. IBIS makes screen savers that require installation of the toolbar to function. License terms and privacy policy are not properly displayed prior to installation of the toolbar.
Collected information, except the user's IP address, is shared with IBIS's 3rd party partners. |
