Oct 9, 2006

F-Secure Corporation today announced that Mikko Hypponen, Chief Research Officer, will deliver the keynote presentation at the Virus Bulletin conference in Montréal, Canada on October 11th, 2006.

Over its 16-years of operations, the VB conference has become a major highlight for anti-virus researchers, government and military organizations and corporate security specialists alike. Among the hot topics at this year’s conference, researchers will be discussing rootkits, social engineering techniques, industrial espionage and blended threats.

"I've attended every VB Conference since 1993, so I was honored to learn that this year I have been invited to deliver the keynote presentation on the first day of the conference. This a rare opportunity to address hundreds of people working in my field and look forward to presenting them with a thought provoking and stimulating keynote speech," said Hypponen.

Mikko's keynote will cover the development of the malware landscape for the last 20 years - from the first PC viruses found in 1986 to the latest malware operations uncovered in 2006. He'll also be discussing what the virus problem will look like in 10 years from now.

Mikko Hypponen has been working at F-Secure Corporation in Helsinki, Finland since 1991. Today he operates as the Chief Research Officer of the company.
He leads the team that has been the first one to stop dozens of famous viruses over the years. He has co-authored two books, and has addressed the most important security-related conferences worldwide.

Over the years, Mikko Hypponen has assisted several high-profile organizations, including FBI, Scotland Yard and the US Secret Service.
