F-Secure first to make the Internet as safe as Moominvalley

The Company also announces the appointment of Little My as a role model for F-Secure Security Labs

Mar 31, 2006

The Finnish internet security company F-Secure today announced that it is the first company in the industry that has been able to bring the safe feeling of the Moominvalley to internet users. The new version of the F-Secure Internet Security 2006 product with the Moomin user interface has first been released in Japan. The product is available in Japanese and English on sale at the F-Secure e-store on April 17, 2006 at www.f-secure.com

The Moomin characters were originally created by Finnish author Tove Jansson in the 1940’s, and they are enormously popular in Finland, Japan, the Scandinavian countries as well as in other European countries. The Moomins are known for their positive, open, tolerant and liberal approach to life, where risks and occasional downturns are met with optimistic and constructive attitudes, and courage.

”The world is a very exciting place”, says Moominpappa, the modest patriarch of the Moomin family, ”and it is good to go and explore it, and learn more about it. But you should be cautious, and remember that it is better to be safe than sorry.” Good advise indeed, considering the increased activity around the internet, which is a bit like the electrical charge around Hattifatteners in a thunderstorm.

Mikko Hypponen, the Chief Research Officer at F-Secure commented on F-Secure's Moomin move: "In my opinion, virus writers resemble Moominvalley’s Stinky in many ways. So we've taken the energetically fearless Little My as our role model and now we are ready to take them on!"

The company F-Secure is known globally for how fast it is able to respond to the latest scams that unsavory characters like Stinky keep producing.

Through the new Moomin-version of its Internet Security 2006 product, F-Secure believes that Internet users from now on can experience that unique feeling of safety that has become a trademark of the Moominvalley, and with their families enjoy that general atmosphere of things being pretty much as they should be. Just like in Moominvalley.
