[15079] Asus laptop freezing for 30 seconds after restarting the computer
Summary
This article describes the following issue: when F-Secure Internet Security 2010 is installed on an Asus laptop, the computer might freeze for 30 seconds after restarting the computer.
Problem description
You are using an Asus laptop computer with Asus Data Security installed. Then, you install F-Secure Internet Security 2010 on the computer. After installation, when you restart the computer, the Asus laptop freezes for 30 seconds.
Solution
To resolve the issue, you need to remove Asus Data Security from your computer because it interferes with F-Secure Internet Security.
To remove Asus Data Security, restart the laptop in safe mode and remove Asus Data Security.
Note: We recommend that you print out these instructions before you restart your computer as they will not be available after you shut down your computer.
- To start Windows in safe mode:
- Restart you computer.
- After your computer restarts, but before Windows is launched, press F8. The Windows Advanced Options Menu is displayed.
- Select the Safe Mode option from the menu and press Enter. Your computer starts now in safe mode.
- Select one of the following:
- To remove Asus Data Security in Windows XP:
- Click Start and select Control Panel.
- If the "Pick a category" view is displayed, click Switch to Classic View in the left pane to display all Control Panel icons.
- Double-click the Add or Remove Programs icon to open the Add or Remove Programs dialog.
- In the list of currently installed programs, click first on Asus Data Security to select it and then click the Change/Remove button.
- Restart your computer.
- To remove Asus Data Security in Windows Vista or Windows 7:
- Click Start and select Control Panel.
- Select Programs.
- Select Uninstall a program under Programs and features.
- In the list of currently installed programs, click first on Asus Data Security to select it and then click the Uninstall button.
- Restart your computer.
