Advanced process monitoring prevents Delphi from starting

Summary

If advanced process monitoring in F-Secure Internet Security 2010 or F-Secure Protection Service for Consumers 9 is turned on, it prevents Delphi 2009 and 2010 versions from starting.

Problem description

Advanced process monitoring in DeepGuard prevents the Delphi executable (bds.exe) from starting. An error message may not be shown.

Solution

There are two options to get Delphi 2009/2010 running:

Turn off advanced process monitoring

  1. Open the F-Secure user interface and click Settings.
  2. Select Computer and then Deepguard.
  3. Clear the Advanced Process Monitoring check box.
  4. Click OK and then Close.

Exclude the Delphi executable from real-time scanning

  1. Open the F-Secure user interface and click Settings.
  2. Select Computer and then Virus and spyware scanning.
  3. Click Open excluded items list.
  4. In the new window that opens, click Objects.
  5. Select the Exclude objects (files, folders, ...): check box if it is not already selected.
  6. Add bds.exe to the excluded objects.
  7. Click OK, OK and Close to close the user interface.
