The original hoax message appeared in May, 2000, and it was
written in German. Here's the translated (thanks to Uwe
Hennig) hoax contents:
Subject: VIRUS Warning Zlatko.exe
Please forward this email to all people you know and who have
access to the internet. Maybe you have received a screen-saver
"ZLATKO" in a file "Zlatko.exe" via email. Do not open under any
circumstances!!!!!!! Delete it immediately. If you open this
file you will loose all the files on your PC, your harddisk will
be erased completely and the person who has sent you the email
will get access to your internet-name and the corresponding
password. This virus went into circulation on Sunday and it is
very dangerous.
Please mail this warning to everyone in your address book. AOL
has confirmed that this virus is extremely dangerous and that
there is no anti-virus-software available yet that is able to
destroy it. Please forward this email to all of your colleagues
and friends.
There is a variant of this hoax message in English:
There is a new and very dangerous virus in the net, since Sunday
may 7 under the name of: ZLATKO.EXE. Whenever you get a email
with this name/attachment delete it immediately (from the
deleted items to) otherwise your hard disk will be completely
destroyed.
We have not seen any samples of ZLATKO.EXE file so far and we have
no confirmation about the existance of the malware type of virus
described. So if you receive a warning about Zlatko virus, please
ignore it and do not pass it on. If you ever run into a file named
ZLATKO.EXE sent as an e-mail attachment, please forward it to
F-Secure for analysis.
