The message below is a hoax, but take a note that there is an
Internet worm called MyPics that spreads itself as an EXE file
attachment to a short e-mail message 'Here's some pictures
for you' and with empty subject line. So never open unknown
attachments.
Also there's a worm called NewPic that uses MSN Messenger to
spread. This worm first asks a user: 'hey, want me to send my new
pic? i took it yesterday'. If a user agrees, the worm sends
itself to that user. Do not accept files if you are asked exactly
the same question.
The original hoax message looks like this:
IF YOU RECEIVE AN EMAIL FROM SOMEONE YOU KNOW WITH "HEY MY PICS
ARE IN" OR "GOT MY NEW PICS" IN THE SUBJECT LINE AND YOU OPEN IT
AND DOWNLOAD IT. ONCE ITS OPENED AND DOWNLOADED...YOU HAVE A
TROJAN HORSE (VIRUS)!!!!
IF YOU OPEN IT AND HAVE AN AUTOMATIC DOWNLOAD WHEN YOU POWER
OFF....YOU HAVE A TROJAN HORSE(VIRUS)!!!!
IF YOU OPEN IT AND DON'T DOWNLOAD IT...YOU CAN DELETE IT. MANY
OF MY FRIENDS GOT THE VIRUS...THEIR ANTI-VIRUS PROGRAMS DID NOT
PICK IT UP AND STOP IT. THEY HAD A FULL SYSTEM CRASH AND HAD
TO HAVE THEIR SYSTEMS REBUILT OR REBUILT THEM THEMSELVES TO THE
TUNE OF $300-$400 AND SOME OF THESE FOLKS ARE VERY, VERY
COMPUTER WISE PEOPLE.
PLEASE...LETS STOP THIS S.O.B. BEFORE YOU DOWNLOAD ANY PICS
FROM AN EMAIL THAT YOU THINK IS FROM A FRIEND OF YOURS....TAKE
THE TIME TO EMAIL HIM OR HER AND FIND OUT IF THEY SENT YOU THE
PICS IN THE FIRST PLACE.
THIS IS NOT A JOKE
Please ignore this hoax and do not pass it on.
