The below hoax first appeared in May 2001. It was not too widespread. The original hoax message looked like that:
Subject: Possible free case of champagne courtesy of Veuve-Cliquot!
To all Champagne Lovers...
Send this on to 10 people and cc: to
champagne@veuve-clicquot.com and Veuve Cliquot winery will
contact you directly for your shipping address and send you a
free case of champagne. You'll become part of their database,
nothing to lose here.
We can do a vodka red bull/champagne challenge,
