Detailed Description
Here is an example of the hoax.

A computer virus is going around! It is called BUDDYLST.ZIP! Do
not download or some jerk from the Internet will get your screen
name and password! Please send this to any names you can think
of and remember never download BUDDYLST.ZIP

There is another variant of this hoax.

Yesterday a friend of mine called and told me about something
that happened to him. He opened his Email and this BUDDYLST.ZIP
was there. When he opened it his computer crashed and when he
tried to re-boot he had lost everything! It was a Virus that was
being passed around... BEWARE!

Please forward to as many people as you can so no one will get
hurt. These people need to be stopped. Don't download anything
form "buddylst.zip" or you will lose all your files.

There exists another variant of this hoax:

READ THIS!!!!!

This information came from Microsoft yesterday morning. Please
pass it on to anyone you know who has access to the Internet.
You may receive an apparently harmless Budweiser screensaver,
entitled "BUDDYLST.SIP".

If you do - DO NOT OPEN IT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, but delete
it immediately.

Once opened, you will lose EVERYTHING on your PC. Your hard disk
will be completely destroyed and the person who sent you the
message will have access to your name and password via the
Internet.

As far as we know, the virus was circulated yesterday morning.
It?s a new virus, and extremely dangerous. Please copy this
information and e-mail it to everyone in your address book.

We need to do all we can to block this virus.

AOL has confirmed how dangerous it is, and there is no Antivirus
program as yet which is capable of destroying it.

Please take all the necessary precautions, and pass this
information on to your friends, acquaintances and work
colleagues.

Yet another version has appeared recently:

Subject: Virus Warning - Extremely Dangerous ***

Please post this Notice on your computer:
DO NOT OPEN any E-Mail with a Subject Line of either

"BUDDYLST.SIP" or "PICTURES"

BUDDYLST.SIP is a Budweiser Screensaver. Don't Fall for it.
If you open it, it will completely destroy your Hard Drive and
the person sending the message will have access to your Name and
Password for Internet access. This Virus appears to have been
circulated on October 19th so it is apparently too new for some
Anti-Virus Software to Detect and Destroy at this point.

Ignore these hoax messages. Do not pass them on.
