Summary
|
Some programs are detected as hoaxes by F-Secure Anti-Virus. A program is detected as a hoax if it does not do what it claims to be doing. For example, a program that claims to remove malware and that does not do it (it only imitates scanning of a hard disk) is called a hoax. Or a program that shows fake infection or security warnings can be called a hoax. Such programs are used by adware vendors to make people come to friendly websites and to download software.
The Avgold hoax program shows fake security warnings in order to make a user go to a certain website. |
