F-Secure, HP and Microsoft on the road together - An intelligent information security solution helps small and medium businesses focus on essential issues

F-Secure, HP and Microsoft organized a joint information security tour covering eight towns in Finland. The aim of the tour was to improve information security awareness in small and medium businesses, especially in terms of local area network solutions.

Viruses, worms and other malware spreading rapidly through corporate networks and broadband connections set ever-increasing requirements for small and medium businesses to improve their methods and information security know-how. Anti-virus software alone is not enough anymore; it needs to be aligned with a modern IT-infrastructure, a high-performance firewall, and active management of networking solutions used on workstations.

”Intrusion prevention, automated firewall software, and management of networking solutions are becoming standard security features alongside anti-virus software in all companies, regardless of the size of the company," says F-Secure's Country Manager Timo Savolainen.

The tour reached a total audience of approximately 1,500 people. During the morning, the participants were given insight into today's information security challenges. They were also given a comprehensive view on the latest hardware and software. Up-to-date technology provides a safe and effective basis for making small and medium-sized companies' business more efficient. The afternoon presentations focused on a company's local area network and its safety. The tour started from the Eastern Finland on 19 October and ended in the capital area on 9 November.

”Small and medium businesses want to focus on their core competences and spend as little time as possible on solving problems in their IT-environment," comments Jukka Leinonen, Director of small and medium business segment at HP. ”An intelligent network increases information security”.

Small and medium Finnish companies largely use software dating back to the 90s and the turn of the millennium. ”Today's information security issues cannot be solved with outdated technology,” says Eero Noroviita, Director of small and medium business segment at Microsoft.
