Future developments on the product range

F-Secure Mobile Anti-Virus is constantly expanding its capabilities to new mobile platforms. The need for new versions is constant with the increasing growth of smartphone diversity. There are already about 30 million smartphones on the markets with an increasing need for new models. That puts a challenge on the table for antivirus companies that F-Secure is taking very seriously.

The F-Secure Mobile Anti-Virus solution is currently available for Symbian OS devices. Nokia Communicator users also have an answer to their needs with the Symbian OS Series 80 version. The touch screen-based Symbian OS Series 90 version of F-Secure Mobile Anti-Virus is also now available and is being shipped on the memory card in the sales package of the Nokia 7710. During the second quarter of 2005, F-Secure Mobile Anti-Virus will be available for Windows Mobile devices.

New more advanced malware on the rise

The CommWarrior malware has been widely reported in the news. The interesting feature with CommWarrior is that it is the first worm that spreads by using MMS messages. In addition, it is also able to spread using Bluetooth. In order for a device to be infected, the user must first confirm two software installation dialogues. Examination of the CommWarrior worm shows that Symbian OS phones that use the Series 60 user interface platform can be infected.

Since June 2004 there have been 34 new mobile threat entries in the F-Secure mobile threat database. For more information, please go to the F-Secure Computer Virus Information Center under:  http://www.f-secure.com/v-descs/
