F-Secure® Receives FIPS 140-2 Level 2 Certification for SSH

Helsinki, Finland - March 24, 2004

F-Secure Corporation, a leading provider of antivirus and content security software for the enterprise, today is announcing receipt of FIPS 140-2 level 2 certification from NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology). The level 2 validation is for F-Secure’s Cryptographic Library for Windows, which is already incorporated into F-Secure’s SSH Server for Windows 5.30, released in January 2003.

The Level 2 certification makes F-Secure the first and only software vendor to provide FIPS 140-2 Level 2 validated cryptography with SSH products, providing server grade encryption that can be run in multi-user server environments to allow several users to use an application simultaneously.

F-Secure will be demonstrating SSH Server for Windows 5.30, along with other security software products, in Booth 2041 at the FOSE 2004 Conference in Washington D.C., March 23-25. FOSE 2004 is designed to help government and industry come together to discuss the technology, issues, and developments of the day.

About FIPS Certification

FIPS 140 is a standard administered by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), which coordinates the testing of cryptographic modules and algorithms. All U.S. federal agencies must use FIPS-compliant products to secure cryptographic-based computer and telecommunications networks carrying unclassified but sensitive data. The FIPS 140 certification is also important to the Canadian Government and many NATO-country governments in Europe.
