F-Secure PersonalExpress based product line available in North America

Antivirus and Personal Firewall Become Add-on Services Charged to Monthly Bill via F-Secure PersonalExpress™; Virus Libraries Updated Continually and Automatically

Helsinki, Finland - May 2, 2003

F-Secure® Inc., maker of award-winning antivirus and encryption software, announced today the availability of F-Secure PersonalExpress™ based product line in North America. F-Secure’s PersonalExpress service allows Internet Service Providers to offer their customers fully automatic protection from viruses, malicious code and intrusion as an add-on feature to their regular Internet service subscriptions. By offering F-Secure’s hosted security services, ISPs can focus on their own core business while generating new revenue streams from their existing customer base.

F-Secure is already the leading provider of hosted security services to European Internet service providers like Deutsche Telekom, TeliaSonera and France Telecom, F-Secure’s PersonalExpress will soon be available in the United States. F-Secure will be showcasing its new solution this week at the Networld+Interop tradeshow in Las Vegas in booth # 6975.

The exponential growth of Internet security threats with new and complex viruses, worms and trojans, as well as the increasing number of broadband subscribers has created market demand for always-on and easy-to-use security services. Large businesses typically have dedicated products and staff for installing and updating antivirus, encryption and other data security software, but small businesses and consumers seldom have the time or the expertise to keep up with maintenance and the latest security needs and technology.

Business Model Designed for ISPs F-Secure offers PersonalExpress to its ISP partners as a revenue-share business model with no up-front capital investment requirements, resulting in higher Average Revenue per User (ARPU). Built-in customization support, open interfaces to billing systems, and a service expiration control mechanism, ensure easy and fast deployment of the service. F-Secure delivers the fully-hosted, automated Internet security to the ISP’s customer base as a service, and supplies continual automatic updates to end-users.

"With F-Secure’s PersonalExpress, ISPs can offer security services as a value-added service to their customer base and use these as a competitive differentiator and way to gain more revenue and mind share," says Ilkka Starck, Executive Vice President, Americas. “The built-in co-branding and support helps ISPs strengthen their own brand too.”

Round-The-Clock Protection and Support F-Secure's turn-key security solution is managed by F-Secure’s own 24/7 hosting centers. Service level guarantees, with a variety of on-line reports and monitoring tools, keep Internet Service Providers in control of the subscriber base and quality of the service. No capital investments are needed, and ISPs can utilize their existing customer care and billing systems when implementing the security service. End users of the PersonalExpress service do not have to worry about outdated virus signature databases or dealing with security software updates. This feature is especially significant given that some antivirus solutions require the end-user to update the signature database manually, leading to lapses in security coverage. With PersonalExpress , after the simple installation procedure, everything is automatic and updates are done transparently ensuring the maximum protection from today’s increasing number of virus and hacking attempts.

F-Secure’s world-class research and product development, which develops data security products for thousands of companies and government agencies worldwide, ensure that customers are getting the best protection available against viruses and hacks.
