Correction to a IDG News item

Helsinki, Finland - September 12, 2002

F-Secure would like to correct any possible misinterpretation of the IDG News item on the "Chet" worm reported on Computerworld and PC World yesterday (9-11-2002).

Unlike the article suggests, the worm was not discovered on MessageLabs' systems. Messagelabs was not infected at any stage. The Chet worm was intercepted by MessageLabs as part of their normal e-mail monitoring services, and a sample of the worm was forwarded to F-Secure for analysis.

At no stage did this process compromise the security of MessageLabs customers.
