Helsinki, Finland - May 8, 2002

F-Secure and Microsoft will cooperate on marketing the product, which is on display at the Networld + Interop show in Las Vegas, in the F-Secure booth # 2934, as well as in the Microsoft pavilion, where F-Secure is the only Microsoft partner with an SSH server.

With more business-critical applications based on Windows platforms, network security has become increasingly important. F-Secure SSH Server for Windows provides strong authentication and strong encryption for most client server applications such as Microsoft SQL Server. It is also the only solution that provides all standard SSH server functionality, securing all major platforms, including servers for Windows NT, 2000, XP, and Unix, and clients for Windows, Unix and Macintosh.

Additionally, the product's remote utilities enable security for terminal connections, tunneling for email and web access, and secure file transfer protocol (SFTP.)

SFU 3.0 delivers a full range of cross-platform services geared towards customers wanting to integrate Windows into their existing UNIX environments. The most significant enhancement of SFU 3.0 over previous versions is the integration of the Interix subsystem technology. Interix gives organizations a universal environment to run both Windows and UNIX applications on a single system, reducing system costs, development time and leveraging existing employee skill sets. It provides a UNIX environment that runs on top of the Windows kernel, enabling UNIX application and scripts to run natively on the Windows platform, side by side their Windows counterparts. This means that customers can continue to get value out of their UNIX scripts and applications by re-using them on Windows, whether the goal is towards short-term coexistence or long-term integration. F-Secure SSH Server 5.2 for Windows works with the Interix subsystem in SFU 3.0, providing for secure remote logins and r-utilities. Moreover, the secure tunneling capability of F-Secure SSH provides security to any application using the TCP protocol suite.

"Microsoft is pleased to be working with F-Secure, a vendor with a highly regarded SSH Server for Windows," said Doug Miller, director of UNIX migration strategies at Microsoft. "SSH is considered a very important UNIX utilities, and F-Secure's support of SFU 3.0 included in their SSH Server for Windows solution is an important resource for customers that want to migrate UNIX applications to Windows 2000."

Fred Fondriest, director of business development at F-Secure, said, "As enterprises develop and deploy applications across multiple environments, they consistently ask about our Windows solutions. Customers need the assurance of solid, secure platforms, and more importantly, interoperability among those platforms. Integrating with Services for Unix version 3.0 was an obvious and important step to meet customer demand and expand our existing Windows support. We are delighted to provide SSH for SFU 3.0."
