F-Secure Anti-Virus for Linux as a service for Capnova customers

F-Secure Corporation [HEX: FSC] and Capnova Oy of Finland today announced that they have signed an agreement to use F-Secure Anti-Virus for Linux to check the e-mail inboxes of Capnova's webhotel customers for viruses.

Capnova manages a service center with numerous servers owned either by Capnova or its customers. The servers manage approximately 1000 network user codes, websites and e-mail inboxes of small and medium sized companies. The agreement signed with F-Secure makes it possible for Capnova to offer its clients an automatically updated virus check, even before the messages reach the customers' workstations.

"E-mail traffic has become the most frequently used channel for viruses. The current e-mail viruses can spread worldwide in one day and this places high demands on antivirus products. The antivirus service that Capnova offers is a good example of a service that is automatic for the customer, and with F-Secure Anti-Virus and its frequent updates, fast and effective as well," says Timo Savolainen, Country Manager of F-Secure Finland.

Virus protection as a service is still not very commonly available, though the demand for services with automatic updating has grown. The main server of Capnova gets the latest virus updates directly from F-Secure's server. The service provider therefore handles all the updates and newest versions and automatically distributes them to the customer. The customer may therefore safely read his e-mails using any client (webmail, Outlook, etc.).
