F-Secure Releases Secure Access Solution for Windows Servers

F-Secure SSH Server 5.0 for Windows Provides Secure Remote Connections to Windows Servers

Espoo, Finland - January 30, 2001

F-Secure Corporation, a leading developer of centrally managed security solutions for the mobile, distributed enterprise, today announced the general availability of F-Secure SSH Server 5.0 for Windows. The product is the first secure remote access solution for Windows servers. It provides easy multi-platform secure access for Web browsing, email, downloading files and other activities.

Secure access becomes increasingly important with the explosion in business-critical applications based on Windows platforms. F-Secure SSH Server 5.0 for Windows provides secure connections and authentication of all users, from any device. Additionally, the product brings all standard SSH server functionality to Windows NT and 2000 platforms: terminal connections, tunneling for all TCP based services (e.g. email and web access) and secure file transfer protocol (SFTP) for downloading and uploading files.

F-Secure SSH Server has been known for years as the de facto secure Unix access software, and the same functionality is now available for Windows NT and 2000 platforms. F-Secure provides the only solution that secures all major platforms, including servers for Windows and Unix, and clients for Windows, Unix and Macintosh. The product is new to the market, and will be used primarily by companies running services either solely on NT or Windows 2000 platforms, or in a mixed-platform environment. F-Secure provides continued development, testing and support throughout the life cycle if its products.

Version 5.0 is the first step toward integrating SSH products under a common centralized management architecture, using F-Secure Policy Manager architecture, which also provides seamless integration with management frameworks including Tivoli TME 10, CA-Unicenter, HP OpenView and others. Policy Manager also integrates with a full range of additional security applications from F-Secure that provide anti-virus for workstations and servers, file encryption, network encryption and distributed firewall security.

"F-Secure is the only vendor providing secure SSH access for all major platforms" said Petri Nyman, Senior Product Manager at F-Secure. "F-Secure SSH Server 5.0 fills the gap in Windows security, providing the long-awaited secure remote connection capability using Secure Shell protocol already commonly used in Unix servers. Now administrators can use the same software to access all their servers. This product and its roadmap represent another step in the F-Secure goal of extending its centrally managed security products and services to the increasingly mobile business world."
