F-Secure Anti-Virus 5.1 passes West Coast Labs Checkmark tests

Espoo, Finland - July 10, 2000

F-Secure Corporation (formerly Data Fellows) [HEX: FSC], a leading provider of security for mobile, distributed enterprises, today announced that the company's award-winning F-Secure Anti-Virus 5.1 product has received both Level 1 and Level 2 certification in the Checkmark test performed by West Coast Labs.

West Coast Labs tests anti-virus products at regular intervals using carefully defined test criteria. The testing procedure is repeated at least every three months to ensure that certified products continue to show the same high level of virus detection or risk suspension of the Checkmark certification. Its Checkmark will be withdrawn unless the product is improved. For a product to be certified at Anti-Virus Checkmark Level Two, the product must be able to detect all viruses actually causing infections in the real world, and in addition, must be able to disinfect all viruses "in the wild".

- "We are very happy to hear about these results. They prove the high quality of our anti-virus product, which we are committed to maintaining at the highest level", says Mikael Albrecht, Product Marketing Manager at F-Secure Corporation. - "These certifications, coming on the heels of the recently published test results in Hamburg's VTC labs, prove beyond a doubt that F-Secure's anti-virus products provide the greatest protection against malicious code."

F-Secure Anti-Virus program family

F-Secure Anti-Virus is the first virus protection solution on the market to combine the power of multiple search engines. The stellar virus detection and disinfection rates of F-Secure Anti-Virus are based on a simple principle: if one search engine does not find the virus, another one will. F-Secure Anti-Virus is available in network and single user versions, which include automatic virus alarms, reporting, and disinfection functions.
