F-Secure and Cisco provide comprehensive security solution for distributed data processing

Espoo, Finland - May 30, 2000

F-Secure Corporation (formerly Data Fellows) [HEX: FSC], a leading provider of security for mobile, distributed enterprises, and Cisco Systems Finland Oy today announced that they will cooperate in marketing a new comprehensive security solution for distributed data processing.

Cisco will be responsible for the firewall and the VPN gateway. F-Secure on the other hand will handle VPN workstation software, smart card support and distributed firewall service. All products support the PKI infrastructure.

The products will be delivered by the VARs of both companies, as well as through ASPs and ISPs. The cooperation agreement means that VARs are able to deliver security as a more comprehensive package than previously. Cooperation startup is speeded up by the fact that most of F-Secure's and Cisco's trained and certified system integrators are already the same. Furthermore, service providers are able to offer a VPN service to support smart cards as Security as a ServiceTM.

"As a result of the cooperation, we are able to offer even more comprehensive security services than have been available on the market up to now. A policy-based solution now covers all users of an information system, even the mobile workforce that uses the Internet," says Anthony Gyursanszky, Director at F-Secure. "Marketing cooperation was started because Finnish companies have been the most active, even on a global scale, in implementing smart card applications and take PKI infrastucture into use."

Since last fall, F-Secure has been a charter member of the Cisco Security Associate program. The program features interoperablity testing of vendor products, thereby helping F-Secure and Cisco to jointly deliver effective solutions for securing mission-critical customer networks. As a charter member in the program, F-Secure enables its customers to easily deploy comprehensive security solutions for Cisco-based networks. The cooperation with Cisco Systems Finland Oy is not only limited to the regular VARs of the two companies, but is also extended to providers of Security as a Service, who are now better able to offer centrally managed data security services to enterprises by utilizing F-Secure and Cisco technology.

The cooperation now starting in Finland is a continuation of the agreement published less than a month ago, where F-Secure and Cisco Systems announced that they will cooperate with iD2 Technologies to create a comprehensive European VPN solution.
