Sonera to offer F-Secure's virus protection for corporate firewall services

Sonera (NASDAQ: SNRA), an international forerunner in mobile communications and mobile-based services and applications, today announced that it will start offering a new virus protection service to the corporate customers of its data services. The virus protection service will be provided by F-Secure Anti-Virus for Firewalls, utilizing the Security as a Service(tm) concept. F-Secure Corporation is a leading provider of centrally-managed, widely distributed security solutions.

The virus protection is a value-added service for customers who have outsourced their firewalls. The firewall outsourcing service is employed by companies wanting to focus on their core business and make use of Sonera's experience in demanding information security solutions.

The value-added service offered by Sonera increases the efficiency of a firewall customer's virus protection considerably, as the service will find any known viruses before they penetrate the company's own systems. The virus protection service provided by Sonera requires no maintenance on the part of the corporate customer. Sonera reports to the customer on a monthly basis of any viruses detected by the service.

"F-Secure's Security as a Service concept offers Sonera an excellent way of producing added value to its customers. Sonera chose F-Secure as the supplier of its anti-virus solution, since Sonera working together with F-Secure is able to develop the best customer solutions in the market. This cooperation will result in the creation of better and more versatile services than before," says Pasi Korhonen, Product Manager of the Firewall service at Sonera. "The new value-added service makes it possible for the customers of Sonera's firewall services to further increase their security level."
