Data Fellows Names Christopher Vargas President of North American Operations

Former Cisco Director to Spearhead Leading Security Solution Provider's US Expansion

Espoo, Finland, October 4, 1999 - Data Fellows Corporation, one of the world's leading developers of anti-virus and encryption software, today announced that it has named Chris Vargas to the position of president of its North American subsidiary, Data Fellows, Inc. Mr. Vargas will be responsible for all of Data Fellows' operations within the North American region, including Sales, Business Development and key business operations such as Finance, Human Resources, IT and Legal.

Prior to joining Data Fellows, Mr. Vargas worked for eight years at Cisco Systems in a number of sales and marketing roles, including director of International Marketing. In this position, he was responsible for developing and executing a marketing strategy for Cisco's Asia, Latin America and European operations. Prior to his marketing role, Mr. Vargas spent six years in sales positions at Cisco, including regional sales manager for Service Providers in Eastern Europe, Russia, the Near East and the Middle East.

Before joining Cisco, Vargas was program manager for Advanced Networking Programs for an Intranet Services division of the USAF. There, he directed the design, development and installation of secure networks worldwide. Among those projects was Desert Storm, which involved the development and rapid deployment of a high-speed Intranet access. The network concept designed for Desert Storm was subsequently adopted as a standard for the US Government.

Vargas received an M.S. in electrical engineering and a B.S. in computing engineering from the University of Notre Dame. He was also a Fulbright scholar to Finland from 1987 to 1988.

Data Fellows, Inc. currently employs more than 50 employees and has offices in San Jose, Dallas, Atlanta, Washington DC, and Calgary, Canada. The company is rapidly expanding and is opening offices in several other regions in North America.
