Data Fellows Provides Transparent Virus Protection with its Framework-enabled F-Secure Anti-Virus 5.0

Espoo, Finland, September 13, 1999 - Espoo, Finland, September 13, 1999. - Data Fellows, one of the world’s leading developers of anti-virus and encryption software, announces that its workstation anti-virus software , F-Secure Anti-Virus 5.0, now takes full advantage of Data Fellows' F-Secure Framework.

F-Secure Framework provides F-Secure Anti-Virus 5.0 with centralized policy-based management features, which makes F-Secure Anti-Virus 5.0 easy to deploy and manage in a corporate environment. F-Secure Anti-Virus 5.0 is also the only virus scanner in the world to include multiple scanning engines including Data Fellows’ new technically advanced Orion scanning engine.

In the past, deploying and updating most anti-virus solutions often required setting up complex, third-party management solutions. But through F-Secure Framework, F-Secure Anti-Virus can be deployed, updated and monitored easily through a centralized JAVA-based console. Virus definition updates are handled automatically utilizing BackWeb technology.

"F-Secure Anti-Virus 5.0 was designed to be a complete enterprise solution and as such, is transparent to the end-user. Usability studies have shown that users spend an inordinate amount of time trying to set up their virus protection, which causes loss of productivity and even disabling of the software”, says Pirkka Palomaki, director of product management, at Data Fellows. By creating policies, the administrator can lock down the user settings to best suit those of the organization.

F-Secure Anti-Virus 5.0 is available as a point application and as part of the F-Secure Workstation Suite. The supported platforms are Windows 95/98 as well as Windows NT 4.0.

The price will be USD 18 per user for a 100-user license.

F-Secure Anti-Virus 5 is a free upgrade for customers with a valid maintenance contract for F-Secure Anti-Virus 4. Please see the Migration Guide document for more information.
