F-Secure Upgrades Customers’ Internet Security

F-Secure is providing its existing customers with an automatic upgrade to the F-Secure Internet Security 2010™ software, which is safer and more efficient than ever.

SAN JOSE, Calif., September 14, 2009 - F-Secure’s free and automatic update to the latest F-Secure Internet Security 2010™ provides even better protection against malware. The customer will receive a prompt on the computer display to accept the update to the faster and lighter Internet Security 2010™ software. Once accepted, the upgrade will happen automatically, with no actions are needed from the user.

Antti Reijonen, F-Secure’s VP Consumer Business and Marketing says: “We want the customers who use our product to have the best possible protection on their computers. The latest version of our antivirus software is the safest, so we will begin automatic updates to the new Internet Security 2010 version starting on 14th September.”

The new product version is valid until the end of the existing license period. When the update is available, its installation package (about 70Mb) will install quietly in the background, after which an update prompt will open on the computer display.
 

The update can be installed immediately or completed later, but it cannot be bypassed. If the customer prefers not to wait for the automatic upgrade, the 2010 product version can be downloaded and installed immediately from www.f-secure.com.

Depending on the PC and the bandwidth available, the installation may take 15-30 minutes. The installation does not require a subscription key. When the installation is complete, the next update window will appear, informing the customer that the computer should be restarted.

 

F-Secure Internet Security 2010™ is 60% faster and uses 70% less memory than the previous version, providing significantly better performance and more effective protection than before. The solution requires very little system resources but detects security threats quickly and efficiently. Its completely redesigned user interface sets a new standard for safe PC use. The new Browsing Protection feature detects and warns about harmful web pages and protects your personal information online. This means you can safely visit online stores and web pages requiring personal login details.

If the customer has subscribed to the F-Secure security service from a broadband provider, the update will take place at a time confirmed by the operator. F-Secure Anti-Virus™ will also be automatically upgraded to the Anti-Virus 2010 version.
