F-Secure Celebrates 15th Birthday of Website with New Look and Improved Online Scanner

Revamped website features enhanced user-friendliness and improved free Online Scanner tool

It was 15 years ago this spring when F-Secure (then called Data Fellows) established the world’s first Internet security vendor website. The latest version of this website at www.f-secure.com now features a new design and improved usability that aim to serve the needs of end customers as well as security specialists.

The F-Secure website has established a loyal following among security specialists, especially with the launch in 2004 of the F-Secure “Weblog: News from the Lab”, the first antivirus industry blog that has grown to be an authoritative source in breaking Internet security threats.

Back in 1994, F-Secure’s website was the first to include a comprehensive virus encyclopedia. Today, F-Secure.com not only provides visitors with various product and partner information, but also free tools to help people stay secure, including:

- F-Secure’s Online Scanner, which manually scans a user’s PC, and detects and removes any viruses, spyware or other malware. A new version released this month finds PC malware more easily and effectively than ever and now supports the Firefox browser.

- F-Secure’s Health Check, which ensures a PC is running the most up-to-date security application, identifies vulnerabilities in a user’s installed software and then advises appropriate solutions to any issues.

- F-Secure’s Easy Clean, which effortlessly and quickly identifies rootkit symptoms and removes the most common viruses, worms and other malware from a PC.

F-Secure.com’s traffic saw a significant peak when the Conficker worm was expected to become active on April 1st, 2009. During that week the number of visits to f-secure.com, and specifically the page offering the free Conficker clean-up tool, was almost 150% higher than average.
