F-Secure Service Platform for Consumers

Today F-Secure announced the launch of its F-Secure® Service Platform for Consumers solution allowing ISPs to offer their residential and small office customers a complete, award-winning security service against viruses, outside attacks, harmful content and spam 24/7.

The concept offered by F-Secure has been designed to allow ISPs to provide first-class automated security services and is available in two packages: F-Secure PC Protection (anti-virus, spyware, firewall) and F-Secure PC Protection Plus (anti-virus, anti-spyware, firewall, parental control, spam control). F-Secure takes care of the hosting, monitoring and maintenance of the service, which is managed by 24/7 high-quality global hosting centres.

Speaking about the launch, Kalle Korpi, Vice President, Service Provider Business at F-Secure said: "At a time when Internet use is growing but broadband access packages are suffering price erosion, offering security as a service is an excellent way for Internet providers to augment revenue streams. Another major advantage is that the SPCS solution requires no integration with the ISP’s system and is quick to deploy."

The Aina Group, headquartered in Hämeenlinna, Finland adopted the F-Secure Service Platform for Consumers Standard solution in 2005. Out of a total of nearly 20 000 broadband customers the Aina Group provides service for, approximately one third use a broadband package, which includes the F-Secure security service. Product Manager, Anne Valaja said that the security service offered by F-Secure had been a key in helping to bolster the broadband package's popularity and increase in uptake.

"We market the Service Platform for Consumers Standard supported package to individuals and small business customers for its ease of use and good security. We believe that it fills a clear niche in the market", she said, adding: "We have had excellent co-operation with F-Secure and Service Platform for Consumers Standard is a service custom-fitted for small operators which is very easy to take into production and offer to our customers."
