F-Secure first to offer antivirus protection for S60 3rd edition

F-Secure today announces with F-Secure Mobile Anti-Virus its support for S60 3rd Edition platform, the newest generation of the world's leading smartphone software platform. S60 is an open platform for software developers and the Symbian OS 9.1 based S60 3rd edition has added even more features, flexibility and security. F-Secure Mobile Anti-Virus 3.0 for S60 3rd is a first for F-Secure to produce an antivirus product for this platform.

Speaking about the new anti-virus product, Antti Vihavainen, Vice President, Mobile Security, said: As mobile malware authors continue to increase their assault on the platform, Symbian and especially S60 has shown itself to be a large target because of its great popularity. Vihavainen continued that F-Secure Mobile Anti-Virus will incorporate a next-generation scanning engine for mobile devices making it faster and more efficient compared to previous versions. The new software client has also faster application updates by only updating the software elements that have changed since the last update. The software supports 27 languages.

F-Secure Mobile Anti-Virus 3.0 for S60 3rd Edition is available first for new Nokia Nseries mobile computers and new Nokia Eseries devices. In Nokia N71 and N80, F-Secure Mobile Anti-Virus will be distributed as the default antivirus application in the standard device sales package. In the Nokia E60, E61 and E70 devices, the antivirus client will be easily downloadable through Nokia Catalogs.

The F-Secure Mobile Anti-Virus will also be available for the corporate channel and the consumer market with a retail box in Italian, Finnish and English.
