In an article entitled ‘Virus scanners for Symbian Smartphones’ the German magazine c’t published comprehensive test results from AV-Test.org announcing F-Secure as the clear winner over five other mobile data security products. AV-Test.org is an independent company specializing in testing antivirus and security products.

Five virus scanners were tested including Avira, BullGuard, Fortinet, F-Secure, Symantec and Trend Micro using 79 different viruses/worms/Trojans with all virus databases updated for the scanners.

While the reviewers acknowledged that mobile scanners are not nearly as advanced as PC products they concluded that uncomplicated and reliable updates, high detection rates and good overall protection are key features also on mobile device data security products. Writing about F-Secure Mobile Anti-Virus, c’t Magazine stated: ‘As expected, F-Secure as the forerunner in the mobile antivirus field, detected all virus samples presented to it.
