F-Secure raises client security solution above industry standards
Jun 01, 2005:
F-Secure Corporation [HEX: FSC] today announced the new F-Secure
Anti-Virus Client Security 6.0 and F-Secure Policy Manager 6.0
solutions. Compared to the current industry standard level, these
solutions provide a higher level of protection for company
workstations and laptops by integrating protection against spyware,
adware, hackers, viruses, worms and zero-day attacks into the same
solution.
With the new solutions F-Secure will introduce many industry
first features, including F-Secure Network Quarantine for both
LAN/WAN and Internet access, scanning of HTTP traffic for malicious
code, and Integrated Virus Outbreak alerting and monitoring system.
In addition to the industry first features F-Secure
Anti-Virus Client Security 6.0 also introduces protection against
spyware and zero-day attacks. This highly integrated solution
offers extensive insight and control for network administrators.
As well as endpoint security defences, the F-Secure solution
also adaptively maintains the highest level of protection no matter
how people use their computers and networks. With this new approach
enterprises can increase their business productivity by offering
more freedom to users without the need to compromise security and
control. F-Secure Anti-Virus Client Security 6.0 has adopted a new
approach by shaping the level of protection to the way people
behave, rather than forcing people to adapt to how technology
works.
For the past couple of years traditional antivirus alone has
not been enough to protect against fast-spreading threats. Until
F-Secure Anti-Virus Client Security 6.0 there has not been
solutions in the market that integrate spyware protection
seamlessly with antivirus, desktop firewall and intrusion
protection in a way that works well in practise. Thanks to a
dedicated antispyware engine the solution protects against spyware
in real-time while keeping the deployment and management as easy as
with plain antivirus solutions but offering more insight for
network administrators on spyware protection. “In 2004, according
to IDC studies the biggest IT security concerns to enterprises were
viruses, unintentional employee error, Internet worms and spyware,”
said Thomas Raschke, analyst at IDC continuing: “IDC believes that
the demand for a single comprehensive solution drives the
integrated protection of viruses, spyware, adware, trojans, worms
and other types of malicious code. Antivirus vendors are further
helping customers to tackle unintentional employee errors by
developing security lock-down and admission control features, such
as Internet Quarantine in F-Secure Anti-Virus Client Security 6.0.”
“The adaptive security of F-Secure Anti-Virus Client Security
6.0 keeps protection at the highest level at all times. One example
of this is the monitoring of suspicious system activities, beyond
the scope of known threats. In this manner, we can be assured that
no software is allowed to take control of the computer without the
owner’s distinct approval,” says Ari Alakiuttu, Vice President,
Corporate Business Unit at F-Secure Corporation. “With F-Secure
Network Quarantine our customers can ensure the security policy
compliance of laptops and workstations regardless of the underlying
networking infrastructure and location the computer is connected to
the network.”
