F-Secure protects Kabel Deutschland’s customers
Mar 23, 2005:
Europe’s largest TV cable network operator, Kabel Deutschland (KDG)
is to offer an optimized fast Internet connection via TV cable
using a new security package backed by F-Secure’s award-winning
security solutions. This will enable all Kabel HighSpeed subscribers
among the ten million households in 13 German states that Kabel
Deutschland is connecting to enjoy a comprehensive security package
called “HighSecure Professional“ which includes antivirus,
antispam, firewall and parental control. Once installed, the
software, which runs in the background and is updated and patched
automatically, protects users from viruses, trojans and hackers.
“In F-Secure we found an excellent partner whose Internet
security expertise and competence is well acknowledged,” explains
Christian Dahlen, head of Kabel Internet. This innovative security
package is the result of close cooperation so that HighSecure
Professional meets the highest security and convenience
requirements. With this offer we add an important service to our
broadband connection and one which has often been requested by our
customers.”
Those customers buying “HighSecure Professional” will receive
the integrated security package for a three-month trial period.
After that period, the offer for the fastest Internet connections -
Kabel Highspeed Flat Pro 3200 and Flat Pro 5600 remain free of
charge while other price models require an additional 3,98 EUR per
month fee. Customers of Kabel Deutschland will now be able to enjoy
all the benefits of surfing via TV cable using an attractive and
secure alternative to DSL offers. The new Security Package will be
available starting in April at www.kabeldeutschland.de/csc.
“Surfing unprotected in the Internet will put viruses and
worms on your PC after only a few minutes. This is a known fact to
users. But most of them don’t want to spend time in protecting
their systems,” states F-Secure Country Manager Hans-Joachim
Diedrich. “Services such as HighSecure Professional from Kabel
Deutschland are an ideal solution for Internet users. They can
easily subscribe to the security solution that works in the
background and is updated automatically. This enables working with
the PC without any worries about security threats.”
Compared to other antivirus vendors F-Secure reacts very
quickly to new virus outbreaks. Due to the short reaction time,
F-Secure antivirus software is updated very quickly so that
viruses, worms or trojans cannot intrude the system. Spam control
scans the complete email traffic and filters unwanted messages,
junk or spam mails. The personal firewall offers efficient
protection from hackers and dialers who will try to dial up to
expensive numbers using another’s subscription. The security levels
are pre-configured and can be changed when needed. Additionally,
parents can protect their children from improper or dangerous
Internet content such as gambling, racism, violence, drugs and porn
using the parental control feature. In total, the security features
of HighSecure Professional result in a comprehensive security
package.
F-Secure's strategic business concept of offering
cutting-edge security solutions through outsourced services to
Internet users is gaining in popularity. More and more service
providers are gradually acknowledging the benefits of partnering
with F-Secure. F-Secure is constantly entering new territories
successfully, while simultaneously reinforcing its position in
existing markets. Overall, 40 service provider partnerships have
been announced. This makes F-Secure the fastest growing company in
the world in offering security services through service providers.
