F-Secure Joins Network Admission Control (NAC) Program
Mar 07, 2005:
F-Secure Corporation [HSE: FSC] today announced it has joined the
Network Admission Control (NAC) program, a Cisco-led industry
initiative designed to help prevent malicious attacks by using the
network infrastructure to enforce endpoint security policy
compliance on devices looking for access to networks. F-Secure will
develop features supporting the Cisco Trust Agent (CTA), technology
delivered thru the NAC program, into its upcoming version of
F-Secure Anti-Virus Client Security. The product is scheduled to be
released in 2Q/2005.
F-Secure Anti-Virus Client Security product is designed to
protect company desktops and laptops against today's complex
threats. The product offers unique protection against viruses,
hackers, network worms as well as the use of networking software
that violates corporate security policies.
F-Secure will integrate CTA into F-Secure Anti-Virus Client
Security, allowing IT departments to deny network access to end
users who are out of compliance with corporate security policy.
Using F-Secure Anti-Virus Client Security with CTA, companies can
help ensure their network health level by helping to automatically
isolating hosts with out-of-date security settings. NAC is a
critical component of Cisco’s Self-Defending network security
strategy which helps customers utilize their network to help
identify, prevent, and adapt to security threats.
“Cisco is pleased to have F-Secure Corporation participating
in this collaborative industry program,” said Russell Rice,
director of product marketing in the Security Technology Group at
Cisco Systems, Inc. “F-Secure Anti-Virus Client Security enhances
the NAC program, by helping to bring an integrated and
collaborative approach to endpoint security. This collaboration
within the NAC effort will help provide IT organizations with the
ability to defend against a variety of threats including malicious
attacks, adware, system intrusion and spyware.”
“Cisco’s Network Admission Control program underlines
importance of the service aspect in antivirus business. It is not
enough that you have antivirus software installed; the software
will need to be kept up to date before accessing the network.
F-Secure has been constantly ranked as industry’s fastest provider
of virus definition updates.”, says Ari Alakiuttu, Director,
Corporate Business. “By working together with companies like Cisco,
we can help our joint customers to assure the health of devices
before connecting them to their networks.”
