Summary

A vulnerability in Remote Desktop Protocol, which affects systems running on Windows XP, could be exploited by an attacker to execute code in a compromised system.



Detailed Description

Microsoft has released a security update to address a vulnerability in Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP), which affects Windows XP systems. The vulnerability exists when RDP processes a sequence of specially crafted packets, and mistakenly accesses a deleted object in memory. Upon successfull exploitation, an attacker could be able to execute code and take control of an affected system.

To fix this issue, a modification in the way that RDP processes packets in memory has been made. Users are recommended to install the latest update to protect their system from potential exploit attempts.
