Summary

A vulnerability in Windows Authenticode Signature Verification could be exploited by a remote attacker to execute code and take control of an affected system.



Detailed Description

Microsoft has issued a security update to patch a vulnerability in the Windows Authenticode Signature Verification. The vulnerability was caused by improper validation of a specially crafted PE file, making it possible to add malicious code to a file without invalidating the signature.

The released update resolves this vulnerability by modifying the way of performing signature verification when verifying portable executable (PE) files. Users are recommended to install this latest update to protect their system from potential exploit attempts.
