Summary

A vulnerability in Indeo Codec, which existed when loading DLL files, could be exploited by an attacker to execute code and take control of an affected system.



Detailed Description

Microsoft has issued a security update to address a vulnerability affecting the Indeo Codec in Windows XP. The vulnerability resulted when the path used to load external libraries is improperly restricted. Upon successful exploitation, an attacker could be able to execute arbitrary code and take control of an affected system.

This issue has been resolved in the update by making correction on the way Indeo Codec loads external libraries. To protect their system from potential exploit, users are recommended to install this latest update.
