F-Secure Online Backup Provides An Effortless Way to Make Backups and Share Content
SAN JOSE, Calif. – December 15, 2011 F-Secure today announced the latest version of F-Secure Online Backup that makes backing up files effortless. Everyone knows backing up digital content is important, but it can be a tedious and time-consuming task. The new version of F-Secure Online Backup takes away the worry of losing files and forgetting to make backups – for good. Now, keeping everything securely backed up and sharing content, such as photos, music and videos, is easier than ever.
F-Secure Online Backup automatically makes backup copies of pictures, music and other important content saved on your computer and stores these backups on secure servers on the Internet. Backup occurs whenever your computer is connected to the Internet and you can easily restore files, either automatically or by selecting the files you need. There is no limit on the amount of data* and regular email reports are sent on your backup status.
The backed up files can be securely accessed from anywhere with an Internet connection, and shared directly with friends or through Facebook and other social networking websites.
New, intuitive user interface
The new version of F-Secure Online Backup has a completely redesigned and intuitive user interface that also takes usability to a new level. It’s like having your own safe online datacenter for all your irreplaceable digital stuff. Online Backup offers a safer way to backup content than external hard drives or DVDs, which, like a computer, can break or be stolen.
“The new F-Secure Online Backup offers an entirely effortless way to make sure all your files and content are secure, accessible and ready to share. Just install and connect to the Internet and F-Secure Online Backup will take care of the rest. This new version also significantly improves backup speed,” said Sebastian Neittamo, solutions manager at F-Secure.
Meeting genuine needs
In a survey completed by F-Secure** earlier this year, 93 percent of respondents agreed that preventing the loss of personal content was very important, while 63 percent communicated an appreciation for easy content sharing online. As such, Online Backup meets very genuine consumer needs.
In another F-Secure survey***, more than 90 percent of respondents said that they think backing up files is at least as important as having an antivirus product on the computer. According to the survey, the most common way of backing up important files are external hard drives (54 percent), followed by online backup (24 percent) , DVD/CD/Blu-ray (5 percent) and Webmail (3 percent). A total of 14 percent of respondents said that they do not make any backups of their files. Over 77 percent of respondents also stated that they would like access to their backed-up data wherever they go.
F-Secure Online Backup has an easy to use web portal for managing all your backed up files and viewing photos and playing music and videos with the built-in media player. Sharing the content takes just a couple of clicks.
“Today, data security means more than protection against malware. Online Backup, like our other leading solutions, makes life easier and more secure for all computer users, families and businesses,” said Mikko Hyppönen, chief research officer at F-Secure.
