2009

F-Secure acquires Steek SA, a leading European software provider for online storage and data management solutions to fixed line and mobile operators. The new unit is called Storage and Digital Content.
F-Secure was awarded the title of best Finnish listed company by economic daily Kauppalehti and bankign group OP-Pohjola.
F-Secure CEO Kimmo Alkio was awarded the title of best Finnish CEO of an IT company by Finnish financial analysts.

2008

The company celebrates its 20th anniversary.
The real-time protection network, offering the fastest protection in the online world, is launched in F-Secure Internet Security 2009 and Client Security 8.
F-Secure Online Backup, offering unlimited online backup capacity for broadband users, is launched as a service through ISPs.

2007

The company’s total revenue growth was a healthy 20%.
The security as a service concept is launched to business customers and consumers.

2006

Strong growth and leadership continues in the global ISP data security market and the 100th Service Provider contract is signed with the Taiwanese online gaming house Gamania.
Frost & Sullivan give the market penetration leadership award to F-Secure.
F-Secure launched to the Asian market with offices in Singapore, India and Malaysia.
F-Secure Internet Security 2007 complete with new DeepGuard technology is launched.
Risto Siilasmaa cedes his position of CEO to Kimmo Alkio and takes the position of Chairman of the Board.

2005

Turnover grows by 44% in 2005.
F-Secure is the first antivirus company to release rootkit detection technology, F-Secure Blacklight.
Mobile Anti-Virus is launched on the retail market.
The F-Secure Messaging Security Gateway appliance begins to tackle spam.

2004

F-Secure is named the fastest growing listed antivirus company.
The company’s weblog is launched to report on data security events.
The company delivers
- the first mobile antivirus solution distributed by mobile phone manufacturer Nokia.
- the first mobile antivirus service available through mobile operator Elisa.  

2003

F-Secure offers hosted security services with wireless connectivity and SMS updates and also delivers the first content security solution for wireless download systems.

2002

F-Secure places strategic focus on antivirus.
The company
- receives its first FIPS 140-2 certification and delivers the first FIPS certified Pocket PC crypto library.
- launches its first antivirus product for mobile phones with the Nokia Communicator product family.
- delivers its first over-the-air updated antivirus product.

2001

F-Secure  launches
- the first instant security alert service notifying pagers, PDAs and mobile phones of major virus outbreaks.

F-Secure enters the mobile security market

1999

Data Fellows becomes F-Secure Corporation and is listed on the Helsinki Exchanges.

1998

The company introduces the first heuristic virus scanner of Windows executables and launches the first integrated, policy managed security solution.

1997

The company develops the first antivirus product with multiple virus scanning engines and the first proactive macro virus technology.

1996

The President of Finland awards the company the Finnish Innovation Prize.
The company is awarded the European IT Grand Prize award.

1995

The first on-access, real-time antivirus product for Windows desktops and laptops is launched.

1994

Data Fellows set up the world’s First Computer Security Web Site complete with a comprehensive virus encyclopedia.

1993

Data Fellows attends CeBit in Hannover, its first international fair. In the same year, the company launches its first centrally-managed antivirus solution.

1991

The company launches its first major software development project and develops the first heuristic scanner for antivirus products.

1988

F-Secure is first established under the name Data Fellows by Petri Allas and Risto Siilasmaa. Principle operations include training computer users and building customized database systems for industrial customers.
